French 10 inch Mortar of the Gribeauval System
1700-century French mortar model set on 4-inch thick Ash,
barrel was machined from seamless tubing.
The barrel was machined from seamless tubing 1020 mild steel
with the trunnion fitted to the sides. The bore is 4.3” diameter with a smaller
powder chamber at the bottom overall length of barrel is 14” long, 8” diameter
Mortar bed measures 24” long, 22 1/2” wide and 5” tall, made
from 4” thick select American Ash with hand rubbed oil finish
The bed is bolted together with six studs that run clear
through the bed and capped off with heavy washers and blued acorn nuts.
The trunnion caps where machined from a solid bar of steel
and cold blued
The trunnion caps are also held in place to the bed with
straps that are bolted to the bed
The total weight of the piece is @ 300 pounds
The piece measures 24” long x 22 1/2” wide and 15 ½” tall
